Summary

April Ashley married Arthur Corbett in September 1963. In December 1963 Authur petitioned the court for an annulment of the marriage.

The court subjected April to medical examinations and described its findings in detail in court and is included in the judgment. The court declared that April was legally male and her marriage was unlawful.

This judgment set trans undermined trans rights, preventing gender recognition of trans individuals until the introduction of the GRA in 2004.
